Isn't this one of those verses that we apply to everyone else instead of ourselves?

Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

    Hi ed...We're ALL ordinary people.

Some folks may achieve extraordinary goals or feats, and each achievement has to be examined to gauge whether or not any one's particular achievement was actually extraordinary.

For instants, 2 world renowned concert pianists with equal abilities and admiration, one is from a wealthy family, being from generations of a musical, artistic and entertainment background (music genes and family support), had the best of the best teachers, being taught on the finest of the finest Steinway's, one at the teacher's studio and another at home to practice his or her lessons...and the rest for this soon to be star became history ( I'm sure you're seeing where I'm going with this)

And then there's the other loved concert pianist that only had the spinet at home to work through the lessons that the public school system would give, and later on, mom and dad, though not understanding their child's passion for the piano because both are working at the mill, were later able to spend the $25 every couple of weeks to get quality lessons from a professional pianist who would share instructional videos for the student to work through when he or she wasn't finishing home work or working at Mc D's, finally winning a scholarship to a music college and the rest, for THIS soon to be star, became history...

Ya see...we're all subject to the truths of the matter in this life, from the day we arrive, to the day we leave. It makes us all ordinary in light of the facts of the matters and in the sense that there's nothing new under the sun...

And if I may, that being said, if 'ordinary' is how we would would describe the second pianist, wouldn't I be doing myself a horrible disservice if I didn't enjoy the company of that person ?

  • Lol Christianity celebrates duality, there always has to be two sides to something so that will never happen cause they are going to always fight an uphill battle. Ie. Good vs evil, right vs wrong, these terms are vague and opinions and will always be perception based.

What version of the Bible did you get that from?? ...the Message?

    LOL

...No, I think it is much easier for Christians to associate with ordinary people than with other Christians.

It may be so but if we actually try it for ourselves it can be really good. Ordinary people know that false pride gets them nowhere and they can be lovely.

No at all. I never read The Bible and think of how it applies to other people. I think of how it applies to me first.

What corrupted translation are you using?

Source(s): EDIT - I would be careful of the NLT. Stick with the King James or the New King James.
