If a person never stays in one place, he or she never"gathers" or gets attached to things or people. Moss grows on stones which havebeen on the ground for manyyears, so a stone which rollscannot grow moss.
The saying is " A rolling stone gathers no moss." It means if you keep moving and learning that you don't just sit there becoming a couch potato.
It is true a rolling stone gathers no moss but only overtime. At the begging of the rock rolling then it will gather moss, but overtime it will lose all the moss it has gained

It is a true fact used as a saying. A stone that has been left alone for a long time will have moss growing on it. If the stone gets moved around and moves around a lot, the stone will have no moss growing on it (the moss falls off and won't grow on unstable places). The meaning of the saying is: If you keep on changing your mind, you won't be able to succeed in life.

A rolling stone gathers no moss is an old proverb, credited to Publius Syrus, who in his Sententiae states, People who are always moving, with no roots in one place, avoid responsibilities and cares. As such, the proverb is often interpreted as referring to figurative nomads who avoid taking on responsibilities or cultivating or advancing their own knowledge, experience, or culture. Another interpretation equates "moss" to "stagnation"; as such the proverb can also refer to those who keep moving as never lacking for fresh ideas or creativity.

Moss grows on stagnant objects. If the rock is constantly moving, moss cannot grow on it. It's true and an adage that expresses movement is better than standing still.

It's "moss"... like a kind of weed.
It only grows on stationary objects, which a rolling stone isn't....

If you keep moving or are keeping busy you won't be bored or have time for stupid things. 'Idle hands are the devils workshop.' Something along those lines.
