When was Murder, She Wrote set?
I'm writing a murder-mystery play for my Drama class major work, and the protagonist and setting are going to draw heavily on Murder, She Wrote. However, I haven't the slightest idea as to when it's set.
I understand it aired from 1984 to 1996, and, as I've seen no definitive date, should I assume that's when it was set? Any help would be appreciated! :D

yeah, unless they go out of their way to claim a specifc period... or the style is such that it's obvious
-- an interesting anachronism occurs in shows like Happy Days and MASH where they were made in the 70s, set in the 50s, but lasted into the 80s... early episodes are close to period correct, but by the end hair styles are 'ahead of their time" and in MASH's case you had an 11 year series set during a 3 year War yet each season some how had a Christmas/winter episode
most shows however are set "In the present" ie the period in which they are airing...
some shows will even make it a point of having a a camera shot of a paper dated the same time the Episode aired or if an episode involves a Funeral the date of Death on the Tombstone or a sign in the Church will be around the same as the airdate
--even some period shows will use dates around the same time as it will be airing ie the shows airs on between September and January... the events of the show will occur between September and January (even if technically 30 years ago)
