Root Canals and Dental Insurance, please help!?
Does someone knows if root canals hurts? People say that even with anesthesia hurts. Can I ask the dentist for more anesthesia if I can't handle the pain or it is not a matter of anesthesia when they are killing the nerve? Also, if it's an emergency and I don't have the money can they perform the job anyways or they don't care? My dental insurance won't be effective till next month. Is it possible to ask them if they can perform the job and then next month charge it to the insurance?
Thanks...

First you can't get them to charge the insurance the next month as that is insurance fraud, and you and they can go to jail for it.
No it doesn't hurt, the thing that hurts is the needle to put the novacaine in, after that no pain. I have had 3 of them, and looking at a 4th one in the near future.
And no you have to pay for it to get it done.

You should explain to the dentist about your dental insurance and request for temporary treatment (open and drain) for the tooth that you plan to have root canal treatment and pay for it yourself.
If you do any permanent treatment now, you can't claim to the insurance company later, it is dishonest and illegal practice.
If you can't make any payment now and want dental treatment, you might be able to find a free dental clinics in your area by entering your zip code on the right side:
