Is the anesthesia used to fix cavities the same to do root canals? PLEASE HELP..?

I've heard root canals are painful, other people say that once they put the anesthesia you wont feel it....but the thing is that the anesthesia the dentists use to fix my cavities and put the filling rarely works...I always feel the pain. So I was wondering if they are the same anesthesia?

THANKS....

Yes iy is, but there is no reason b u to be in pain! If u feel pain raise ur left hand, and tell them, they can give u up to 12 injections so dnt worry about asking for more !! - dental nurse x

Ask for the gas. Shouldn't feel a thing.
