Can you make a recovery partition at home?

Is it possible for me to create a recovery partition on a hard drive similar to what hp and acer do with their systems , and allow it to work like other recovery partitions?

I'm asking because beacuse I'm giving my daughter my {e-machine-new drive no recovery in it} and want to make it so she can recover everything herself?

Yes, it is possible. An easier method would be to purchase a license for "Norton Ghost".

Once you've got the machine all configured and installed to work, run Norton Ghost, to make an image or backup copy of the whole drive. It will prompt you to insert one or more blank DVD or CDs. After a few minutes, you'll have bootable recovery disks. (make a duplicate, so if her set gets lost or damaged, you can ship her a new set.)

I suppose you could then copy the image back to a hidden partition, but setting up the menus etc may be a bit of a chore.

If the computer has Windows 7, then you could use the recovery creation tool to make a recovery stage on a spare partition (within the same hard drive or another one), or even a set of DVDs. For earlier versions you could resort to other third party tools.
