Stem Cell Research, what is it?

What is the unique characteristics that make them suitable for the treatment of disease.

What are the technology, or the process, by which they are used to help in treating diseases like diabetes, or Parkinson’s disease.

What are some technology problems that can exist with the use of stem cells when treating diseases?

What would be two societal issues with the use of stem cells for the treatment of disease.

    They are cells that can become any type of cell in the body, so theoretically one day we could make organs out of them. One problem is they can't fully control them, so in some cases scientists don't know how to stop them dividing which would cause problems if they were used, e.g cancer. Stem cells can either come from bone marrow or embryo's. One issue with embryonic stem cell's is that not all the embryo's are used, some are disposed off which is sometimes seen as unethical as they could have turned into humans. Axolotl is a fish that can grow back limbs, this is where some of the ideas about stem cell research came from. Hope this helps! :)
