pink zebra danios.....?
I aquired some pink zebra danios today. as far as my research goes, there is no such thing and these are in fact glofish. They arent dyed, that is pretty obvious and they look exactly like the pictures of glofish. Just wondering if any fish experts can enlighten me as to what they actually are, as far as i know glofish are illegal in the UK. Also id like to know if theirs a way to tell the difference in gender, there are differences present. I love to breed and have a full of baby platies, swordtails, gourami, kribensis and even have had a spawning from my cardinal tetras which are meant to be near impossible, so would love to add the danios to my reseme. thanks for reading!!

I think what you have is the pink form of GloFish, which are genetically modified zebra danios.
If GloFish are illegal in the UK, well, that explains why somebody is selling them under the name "pink zebra danios" (and not "GloFish").
They look like this:

There is also an albino form of zebra danio, which has a little pink in its markings, but your description doesn't sound like the albino.
In general, male zebra danios have larger dorsal and anal fins and stronger markings than the females. The males are also considerably slimmer, both as seen from the side and as seen from above.
In this photo, the fish at the bottom left is an obvious female, and the one in the top center is an obvious male:

Zebra danios are rated among the easiest aquarium fish to breed, so it shouldn't be hard with GloFish, which are just colored zebra danios. However, they are patented, which means that it's illegal to let yours reproduce unless you have a license from the patent holder. I doubt if you would get in trouble if they spawn in your fish tank, unless you try to sell the offspring, or advertise them. The patent owner has indeed been going after unauthorized breeders who are selling GloFish.
By the way, cardinal tetras are not considered "near impossible" to breed in an aquarium. It has been done numerous times, but it is still considered an achievement, especially if you managed to raise the fry (which is harder than just getting the fish to spawn).
