Skipped period for 4 months, no possibilty of being pregnant?

I am 21 years old and I have skipped my period for 4 months now and there is NO possibilty of me being pregnant, as I am still a virgin. Im getting pretty worried. Do you think something is wrong?

Amenorrhea (absence of regular periods) can happen for a number of reasons: stress, anemia, weight loss or gain, increase in exercise, hormone imbalance, thyroid disorder, drug abuse, polycystic ovary syndrome... In other words, the gamut runs from "not a big deal, just wait it out" to "call your doctor, something is wrong." If you have recently lost or gained a lot of weight, changed your exercise or eating habits, or are under a lot more stress than usual, there is probably nothing seriously wrong with you, but you might want to get a blood test to make sure you're not anemic (not ingesting enough iron), or if you are having other symptoms aside from missed periods, you might want to make an appointment with your doctor.

Source(s): I've had amenorrhea a few times in my life due to anemia, stress, long term travel abroad ("change in normal routine"). It has never been the result of a serious issue, but that doesn't mean that it isn't in your case. If the problem persists, see your doctor. However, I have had no periods for 4-6 month stretches before and they have always come back.

stress, weight problems, eating problems, or any kind of small diseases can mess up your whole cycle, go see a doctor and make sure you haven't caught anything or have anything that could cause this long break from your period

Source(s): many of my friends have had the same problem or exact opposite and have had their period for four months

Are you having weight problems? Underweight or very overweight?

    Do you exercise A LOT?

Are you on the pill, or any hormones?

    All these things are possible.

Skipping periods isn't all that uncommon. But you should see a doctor.

See if there is a Planned Parenthood or woman's clinic in your area.

Not necessarily - there are a number of factors which might be responsible.

Have you recently been dieting or lost a lot of weight? Being underweight can stop your periods.

Have you been doing a lot of vigorous exercise? Some female athletes find the amount of exercise they do interferes with their cycles.

Have you been under a lot of stress? Stress can also upset your body rythyms.

Did you have an illness, for example, flu, during that time? Being ill can sometimes affect your cycle.

Or it could simply be one of those inexplicable hiccoughs that occur from time to time.

If you don't have a period for six months, then I'd see the doctor.
