They must break the cycle, and not elect either Mevedev or Putin. Maybe they could elect Sergei Fedorov as President and Viacheslav Fetisov as Prime Minister. Fetisov wasn't too happy with the Soviet system.

As far as I know, he was elected democratically; if you don't like it, you can lump it. Besides, political leaders like Putin act as a major counterbalance to U.S. imperialism in an emerging multipolar world, and that's all that matters.
