Should Jails be more open to public scrutiny?

If jails offered the same facilities for public observation, such as public galleries in a court room, would the added facility help to take the mystery out of frugal conditions and loss of freedom that must be endured by prisoners, and maybe add another level of disincentive for criminal activity in our community,?

I think that jails can be more open cos there are many violations. For example more freedom in a court room etc.

I was going to answer your question until I read "...take the mystery out of frugal conditions and loss of freedom that must be endured by prisoners...". My nonsense meter went off and it is so loud I can barely hear myself think so, unfortunately, I will be unable to provide an answer. "frugal conditions", really? You are a funny, funny person.
