They played a doubleheader on Monday, had Tuesday off, then played again on Wednesday on Thursday. Was Monday's game a scheduled doubleheader?

Yes. It was scheduled exactly that way.
Monday, May28th was the official celebration day of Memorial Day.
I know doubleheaders are rare but the two teams did get Tuesday off, so that was it.
