You're probably thinking that you're not much of a power user so the cheaper and less powerful one is a better deal. However, you won't be thinking that a few years down the road. Buy the new one, and you'll be guaranteed that there won't be any lag, even after a couple years. Anyways, as you probably know, the white MacBook is no longer on sale by Apple. They discontinued it for a reason. It wasn't their best product. Sure it was cheap, but it wasn't that great. I suggest you get a brand new MacBook Pro. But hearing that you aren't a power user, I really, really, really, have to suggest the MacBook Air. It is a much better deal. Just make sure you get the 13 inch MacBook Air.
ONE LAST THING.
You probably don't follow tech news, but every year, Apple announces new products including iPads, iPhones, and Macs. They do so at an event called WWDC. This years WWDC is in two weeks, June 11th. I would recommend that you wait until June 11th before buying any Mac. If the new Macs aren't for you, you could always buy an older model for cheaper.
You're Welcome!

It depends on what you are going to use it for. If it is for movies/music/work I would go with the used. If you want a low end gamer I would go with the new if you have the cash. Even though the pro is a little more expensive it is better for a more long term investment.
