Why do I not get the full download speed?
My connection is a MTNL 512 kbps one. Before I would get a speed of around 200kbps but from last month its fallen to an average of 50kbps. Whats the problem and why is it not possible to get the full speed for which I pay?
And I still live in the same place. I haven't gone any further from the telephone exchange.
So, what do I do to increase my speed back to 200 kbps? Please help
Arunit
I know that and even most of my friends found it surprising that I got such a high speed. With that speed I could download a 4GB game in 7 hours

You'll only get full speed if you have cable. If you have DSL (Internet through your phone line) then you wont get the full speed you're paying for. With DSL it also depends on how far you are from the exchange, whereas it doesn't matter with cable.
Edit: Maybe your ISP is just unreliable. Phone customer support, and unless there is a fault, you could look for another provider who supplies a faster and more steady connection. Ive been with a few different ISP's, and i could be getting a great connection for months when suddenly it will slow down and won't pick up again. Ive switched to another one since then, and im now getting a very reasonable speed and it's stable. Compare different providers online, find some reviews, otherwise i don't know, sorry.

basically with the aid of fact your have the bandwidth does no longer propose any given torrent can use all of it. If human beings have not got speedy uploads then you definately wont get speedy downloads. If there are basically some seeds or friends then your get carry of fee would be low. - Dominic

It is strange that once u got 200kb/s speed coz if u r using a 512kb/s connection u shud get 64kb/s speed as 512kb/s stands for 512 kilo-BIT per sec and u r download speed is measured at kilo-BYTE per sec.... and as u know 1byte==8bits...
