Nobody knows, there are theories, sure; but nothing even close to being substantial.

Your question is what we all ask ourselves at one time in our life. If I knew the answer, I would be packing my suitcase for Stockholm, to receive a Nobel Prize in Physics! ;-)

We observe what we mean caused the Big Bang. What was before it, is something we can't answer because it doesn't belong to our universe, as Stephen Hawking writes it.

In any case, asking what was "before" uses the notion of time and we don't really know what time is. Evolution gave us memory to register the passing of time. But does the past exists and is the future already written? We don't know. Some say that time is simply the result of the universe's expansion. Can time cease to exist? If the outcome of an event isn't predictable, as Quantum seems to say, is there as many "universes" as there are possible outcomes?

Your argument of the universe coming from something that came from something is often used by the atheist idea: If god created the universe, who created god? And if god can be eternal, why can't the universe?

Some theories say that there was a Big Bang, going into a Big Freeze, where atoms will be so far away from each other that they can't even exist ... for ever. It causes the paradox of: How can something eternal have a beginning? It would be like asking: where does a circle start?

Some say that when the universe has expanded so much that atoms can sustain and only particles exist, it would collapse into a new Big Bang. Some other theories say that the universe consist of membranes where only gravity affect each other. When two membranes meet, it creates a Big Bang.

The interesting point is that, if the universe is cyclic and it happens again, what can happen, will - with time. It means that everything that can happen, does happen and an infinite number of times. The question then is: is it a new event or simply a new observation of the same event? I think it is the latter but I have no scientific proof of that.

It's like asking what is the sound of white. We think of the universe as having a beginning or an origin, or a place from whence it came because we have an innate sense of the passage of time, but I think we're just anthropomorphizing here. We know that our lives have a beginning (birth) and an end (our inevitable death), but I'm not sure we can really say the same thing about the universe. We can observe the red-shifting expansion of the universe; we can use mathematics and physical theories to describe physical parameters like temperature and size and energy of the universe ALMOST right back to the Big Bang, but the math all falls apart and things stop making any sense the closer we get to that place you are looking for in your question. BTW you can't even answer the question in religious terms because if God did create the universe, then where did God come from, and so forth. You might as well ask what's west of the north pole.

I'm pretty sure your referring to infinite regression or infinite causation. We don't know where the universe came from. All we know is that the universe evolved from an initial expansion that began approximately 14.7 billion years ago when it was an infinitely hot, dense and small singularity. However the origin of the universe requires further observation and research. As many theists believe that God created the universe an atheist might argue ''What created God?''. This is where the concept of infinite causation kicks in. For example if something created the earth what created that thing and then what created the of the creator of the creator of the creator and so on. The universe could of emerged from nothing or from a quantum fluctuation which the temporary change of the amount of energy at a point in space. But if the universe did come from something (God) then it would be reasonable to say that God has always existed. This way we won't have to go through a chain of never ending causes which is ridiculous.

The large majority of what we call "the universe" is empty house. It has been here all alongside. Subject/mass seems to have appeared at a point supply round 13 3/4 billion years in the past from which it is expanding in all recommendations. That is referred to as the "significant bang". "Echos" of this event had been noticeable for the reason that the late thirties and the dawn of radio astronomy. This after-glow is known as the Casmic Bachground Radiation. Astronomers/Astro-physicists discovered that in every course, they might notice minute amounts of electro-magnetic radiation within the microwave band. It's vastly pink-shifted and the oldest "gentle" that we will see. Existence is a difficult self-replicating relationship between topic and power. The exceptional scientific answer is that existence developed in an high quality atmosphere round 4 half of billion years ago and has developed into its reward kind over time. The substitute conception of life involves magic and that i will not go into it here.

There are many theories for that like Big-Bang, Singularity, etc. to satisfy our questions.

But many questions still remains unanswered like where this singularity came into existence, etc.

In fact, the real truth is that if we're not able to figure out how we (life) get here into the universe; then how we can think like how universe came into existence.

We're not yet an extraterrestrial intelligent civilization in universe or not even technologically that advance to understand our or universe's existence.
