Why has "Liberty" become a dirty word?
Whether you are Democrat or Republican elite, the word "liberty" has become a profanity. Obama will not say it. Mitt Romney will not say it. The main stream media will not say it. Liberty has become a foul word that deeply offends the establishment of both sides.
When and why did the word liberty become offensive to Americans? Is liberty evil and destructive to America?

A "liberal" as far as the us is worried is a fairly present day time period. The first liberals as an prepared political action took place around the flip of the 20th century as a response to the Robber Barons and Bolshiviks and were the beggining of the middle category. Maybe Teddy Roosevelt was the first liberal president? He ran on a "bust the trusts" slogan and he used to be a republican. Those who supported England had been referred to as "loyalists", people who supported the south for the duration of the civil battle have been democrats or dixiecrats, and the Quakers at all times were antislavery and also you are not able to get extra conservative than them. I'm no supporter of the GOP i am just stating some of your misconceptions. Liberal is a dirty phrase today considering it can be been hijacked with the aid of the Democrat get together which is definately no longer LIBERAL. The concept of political correctness and revisionist historical past had been at first a Stalin/Bolshevik coverage. Hitler used them too. As do those who declare to be Liberal in the USA at present. In the event you have been to translate the terms today to their fashioned meanings it will be some thing like this Liberal = Socialist Neo-Cons = Robber Baron/Elitist Conservatives = individualists = they probably the actual classical liberals and you won't see any of them on television or connected to a political social gathering. Ask your self does and impartial conservative quite want to see everything stay the equal? Or are they demanding accountabilty and change? You're a classical liberal as am I and most americans, we haven't any representation.

I have heard Mitt talk about it on several occasions...his first speech after it was clear that he was going to be the nominee he talked about the founding fathers and liberty...it was a great speech but got very little mainstream media coverage.
The reason the leftists and statist won't use it is because it is anathema to the big Nanny state.

As soon as Ron Paul became seen as a viable candidate by a single person the word "liberty" ceased meaning.

Liberty isn't destructive to America. But the thing is, we want America destroyed. Understand?

A fascinating phenomena. I think elites demonize words because otherwise they can't differentiate from their opponents and bring advantage to their cronies.

Mostly because the people has used the word to hijack its meaning to somehow give them the right to exit the social contract

Because Paul-bots over-used it to describe insanity.
