I am highlighting portions of an ebook on my kindlefire. I cannot seem to save the highlighted portions.?

When I turn my kindlefire off or recharge it and open the ebook again, the highlighting is not there. How do I save the changes I highlighted?

    Have you checked your kindle account over at Amazon to verify that it's saving the highlights? If your account isn't set up right, the highlights won't be saved.

    If you're highlighting parts of a sample instead of the actually books the highlights won't save.
