For new real estate agent, how important is the proximity to broker's office?
Hi, I am a new real estate agent in California. I am looking for a broker to join. How often do agents have to go to office? Does proximity to office have to be a criteria for picking a broker to hang your license and how important is it relative to other factors--fees, commission split, etc. Also, is an office required at all. I have interviewed with a broker that does not have a physical office. Thank you for reading.

You will need some private space to meet prospective buyers and to keep your records in a business like way. You will not be ready to hire clerical help from a business service firm until you have a few sales under your belt so unless you live alone and can convert a second bedroom into a private office then you will need to at least rent a desk in a co-op office, one with a locking file cabinet and some building security. You should be able to do business out of your car with a cell phone and a lap top but most people are not really comfortable that way and a lot of your clients would not be favorably impressed by your reliability or expertise if that is all you have to offer.
