Petit Fours... Do You Ever Make Fox Paws?
Abandoned for Curtains
Those kittens who nestled
on my chest
have abandoned me
for the happiness
involved in curling up,
all three
within curtained tapestry.
What’s this on my bed?
A brownie or biscuit…
I simply won’t risk it.
But I’m convinced
that furthermore
these petite appetits
are not petit fours.
@Ganymede: I do not recommend the brownies. They look suspicious to me. Even the ones that are flattened, compared to the ones that resemble cake decorations.
@Nancy: because of fleas, and strays that sneeze. I might rename LC "Juliet," because it rhymes with derelict as well as wreck, and those rejects we should neglect.
@Thomas, ?, BB, Cassie, & Twin: Children go through stages. How did my mother raise four? I can't keep up with three little waddlers, and a teen cat who wants out the door.
@HD: If the kittens weren't spoiled rotten, they would be. See Above. I have a taker for one or two, but she wanted to be assured they were Democrat cats. (I did consider whether the tendency to poo in my bed was a Republican trait, but didn't mention that).
Oh, ? has returned to Teddy. And Iggy, I'm certain you have never made such little fox paws since you were two or three.
@CW: Oh, well played, sir. Well done. In case the winner is not able to perform the duties of their position, you will be asked to step in. (See what I did there?)

Abandoned for curtains. Cats like curtains. Mine do. I reckon it won't be long before they are snuggling up to you again Adeline. They are just exploring and finding their paws. Your second stanza, made me smile. Petit fours, do not risk it (lol)

how old are they now?
my babies learned the litter box really quick, I think Ana was the first one to explore it thoroughly and no matter what I do - she throws the litter out still even in a covered box, but today I swept I changed it and I mopped the floor in there, egads, it was a stinky room this morning.
why
remind me why is it we keep cats inside as pets???

I don't think I have, no; certainly not in the way described.
You brought a smile to my morning here.

Splendid word play by one of my favorit poets and critics. You have some nice rhymes in there but was good there was not order to it due to the chaos those kitties could cause. You are a beautiful person to be able to care for and raise this sweet little snuggle-buggers, and then hopefully find a home for them, unless they plan to stay-----then, good luck cause you'll need it.
addy, I promise you they will be back on your chest where they belong. The curtains are only a fleeting fad for them, so no worries.
Very charming poem by a great mind, friend and poet.
:)

I love it. It's cute. I know cute doesn't sound complimentary but I mean it so. But now I'm craving brownies!
