What is the best language learning software?

I want to learn German. I hear Rosetta Stone is over-rated and I don't really feel like shelling out that much money when there are a lot of cheaper options. I would like to hear some opinions from people who have had either good or bad experiences trying to learn a language using software. Also, what are some other good ways I can learn German besides using software. I live in the states, and I'm really serious about learning. Immersion isn't really an option here, but I will be traveling to Germany for 6 weeks in 2013, and I would like to learn as much as possible before then. And, yes I know everyone in Germany can speak English so save it. This is more of a personal learning experience more than anything.

I looked around everywhere for the best and Rosetta Stone to me seems to be the only best way to learn another language. I myself am currently also learning German through Rosetta Stone... It is a great tool to me, but requires a lot of time. Well all learning does anyway. Immersion is the best if it can be done, and like you for me it is not an option. Since i live alone away from home for studying, i am going to try immerse myself with everything German, buy books to read and movies to watch and so on...

I am rather extremely pissed off that Europe is choosing English to learn so vigorously, i hope myself to remove this tongue from all of Europe. Yes, my mother tongue is English but even i know the dangers of becoming involved with the Anglo world.

Hola, if you're all in favour of finding out any language, I will advise to get a teach, there are approaches to study should you shouldn't have sufficient cash to pay, you'll be able to consistently present an interchange of languages, you migth be competent to train yours or a minimum of train dialog to get categories in trade . I do not suppose any program will paintings whilst finding out a overseas language, you must uncovered now not simplest to grammar however to many different matters, a teach can not ever get replaced for any sort of program, this one must be a supplement within the learning of languages. I've been trying to learn German for such a long time. I haven't found any software yet for that, but I just usually go on google translate to at least learn some basic words and sentences.
