Is Tunisia strict when it comes to drinking laws?

My partner and I are taking my 16 year old son and his friend to Tunisia in July, and wondered what the rules and regs are for them having a drink with their dinners in our hotel? I know that the legal drinking age is 18, and totally illegal for the muslims in the country, but wondered if there was any flexibility in the hotel with dinner, as there is in this country.

It's not totally illegal for muslims to drink in Tunisia, when you are there you will see plenty in restaurants and the nightclubs are full of locals with a beer in their hand ;)

Usually in hotels there are 2 wristbands, one for over 18's and one for under 18's so the under 18's can't get alcohol.

I have just came back from Tunisia myself last week. I am 15 years old. When I was there me and my friend, who is 14 could get served for any alcohol at the hotel bar, and at dinner the waiters came and gave us wine.

Depends how old he looks sweetie if he looks old enough then he wil be fine, they are quite relaxed about drinking in Tunisia. You wont have a problem at dinner as the french heritage gives them a very liberal attitude

I was there a few years ago, and beer and wine were served openly in bars and restaurants. I certainly didn't see any evidence that it was illegal for Muslims there to drink. It is one of the most secular places in the Muslim world.
