Can i use two EI transformer instead of one toroidal transformer?

my sony 5.1multimedia speaker system. My toroidal transformer have died andi need a replacement. But i'm not able to find it any where in market..

so my ques..is can i use two EI transformer instead of one toroidal trans.??(

I'm also not able to get one EI trans of same rating)

input: AC 230V/50Hz

Output: -12.5v @ 1.5amp

-9v @ 2amp

    Toroidal transformers are generally more efficient so it's hard to see how 2 non-toroidal types could fit in the same space.. Have you tried electronics suppliers like RS, Rapid and Maplin ? If you get the right voltages, the current output can be bigger as long as the transformer fits in the space available.
