How would you rank the Pokemon generations?

Just curious. It's pretty much the only Nintendo owned franchise I can stand anymore.

Don't include remakes.

Here's mine;

2 > 5 > 1 > 4 >>>>>>>> 3

Update:

Dokii: Every generation has had some poorly designed Pokemon. Gen 1 had Grimer, Zubat, Voltorb and Magnemite to name a few.

Update 2:

Cody: I didn't like the 3rd gen because of how ridiculous it was to get most of the Pokemon and because the starters were awful.

I have not played Gen V, so I am just going on what I have read and heard.

    2 > 1 > 4 > 5 > 3

Gen II had a large number of excellent new Pokemon (Espeon, Lanturn, and Tyranitar are two of my all-time favorites), a long, well-thought-out gameplay experience, and facing Red at the end is just icing on the cake.

Gen I was the original, and brought me many happy memories from my childhood. It was glitched, it was unbalanced, but I loved it anyway.

Gen IV brought the best set of starters of all the generations IMO, and the gameplay experience was good for the first 2/3 of the game. After about the 6th or 7th gym, however, it feels like the experience tailed off. You beat Team Galactic, and then there wasn't a whole lot until you got to the Elite Four.

Again, without having played Gen V, I'm going on heresay, but much of what I have heard about Gen V isn't good. It felt like the designers have changed so much in this game that it isn't like the Pokemon I grew up with. I prefer Pokemon with varied and deep movepools, I like that TMs are one-use-only (forces you to think long-term), and level-grinding is MUCH more difficult in this generation. Add in the fact that I am underwhelmed by the starters, and that leaves Gen V as an unimpressive game to me (again, this may change if I play Black/White in the future, but for now, these are my feelings).

Gen III had a beautifully crafted region and that's about it. Many of the new Pokemon were utterly useless, and the game itself felt like it was the shortest of all of the generations. The Gen I remakes helped alleviate this to some degree, but I couldn't help but be disappointed after playing Ruby and Emerald.

1st - 2d gen 2d - third gen third - 1st gen 4th - 4th gen 5th - 5th gen the only reason i did not placed the 1st era larger is as a results of the fact gold & Silver, extra or much less, had each and all of the pokemon from purple & blue. in actuality the 2d gen develop into extremely in basic terms an upgraded and stronger version of the 1st, minus the mythical Pokemon. form of bobbing up the 1st gen out of date (are not getting me incorrect, I enjoyed the 1st gen immensely while it develop into new.) i be attentive to maximum don't love it, yet I enjoyed the Pokemon from the third gen. Granted, some have been knock-offs, yet good ones. I even have little love for the forth & 5th generations as i will consider an incredible form of the different comments, they are extremely in basic terms recycled and relabeled innovations including little or no new to the mixture. Black & White are patently the worst interior the sequence via a techniques. in spite of Nintendo do next, they extra helpful do some thing sparkling. A reboot instead of yet another remake possibly?

3>1=5>2>4. You can all burn in hell for the Gen III hate. With the analogy of a house Gen I built the foundation and frame, Gen II built the walls and roofing, Gen IV and V did furniture and appliances, but Gen III was the one that hooked up electricity and plumbing to actually make it a respectable house.

2>1>4>3...I am not familiar with Gen V...but it doesn't seem as enticing. Kind of looks like gameplay got even better, but design quality is at the same rate as 3.......still I enjoyed three for the world itself, and the villains...

I... HATE... gen 5. Some of the new pokemon are just hideous and poorly designed

I'm torn between 2nd and 1st because they were both great.

    1st, 2nd, 5th, 4th, and 3rd. Third definitely was the worst.

    Definitely 1st - 2nd - 5th - 4th - 3rd (I really hated this one)
