What does "caps" mean?
like when they say this player has 34 caps or whatever, what does that mean?
ok, like how many times they've been picked for the national team?

Way back in the olden days of football, whenever a footballer was called up to play for the national side they received, in recognition, an actual cap for them to mark the occasion.
I'm being 100% serious as well. Here's one from 1949

It means the number of times a player has played for their national team, and is called this because they receive a cap every time they play. So, if someone has 34 caps, they have played 34 times for their country.

It is the amount of stylish hats one has in his dresser.
Steven Gerrard for example has quite a lot of these stylish hats.
