Why do liberals advocate Keynesian economics and then whine about the consumerism that ensues?

Most consumer excesses occur because of Christmas. Are liberals complaining about Christmas?

Because that means government is spending and that money does actually does trickle down to the common folk!

However, these are usually not the same people. The anti-materialism crowd are more the hippie wing of the party. The Keynesians are a smarter breed of liberal that is actually worth talking to and debating, even though I disagree with them. Debating hippies is a waste of time because all they can think of is class warfare rhetoric and anti-corporatism conspiracy theories.

I know. And what are they consuming? Why, it's all those wonderful products from the former USSR, right? Companies like Apple, Motorola, Intel, Texas Instruments, Acer, Asus, etc, ALL STARTED in the USSR, Right? No?! Gosh! I must have gotten some bad info.
