How to stop foundation from getting cakey?

Every single time I wear foundation, without a few hours it looks super cakey and oily and gross.

I've tried many different brands of liquid foundation, powders like BareMinerals, and oil free products, oil blotting papers and powders.

It all looks great for a bit, it gets oily.

It happens even when I wear just a little bit.

Is there anything I can do to stop this?

My skin without makeup isnt oily at all, its only when I'm wear foundation.

Foundations can be tricky. First determine definitively what type of skin you have. This will determine the type of foundation you should be using. If you have oily skin I would try a super matte foundation with a light powder coverage to set it. Primer can be your best friend when applying makeup it will help your foundation last longer, find a good one that suits oily skin types, i have dry skin so i'm not sure which would be best...sorry. Also application is just as key as the type of product. Try changing the way you apply your foundation; use a beauty blender, or a stippling brush, or a paddle brush, or a sponge, or even your fingers; figure out which suits your skin best. If your using a liquid foundation be sure to set it with a powder, this will ensure that your foundation will last longer and wont move or become to oily; and be prepared to reapply a setting powder again during the day (many types of foundations are not made to last all day long especially without setting it). You might also try a makeup setting spray, i know urban decay sells one as well as MAC, this will apply a kind of seal to your makeup. If problem still continues perhaps forgo foundation all together and rely on concealer and translucent powder to cover problem areas. You don't always need foundation to blend concealer just be sure to buff the concealer into your skin to avoid demarcation lines. Makeup can be a bit of a puzzle and is all about finding the right pieces to fit together.

Mattee mouse foundation is WONDERFUL. Its $8 at walmart but its oe of those "a little dab will do ya" type things. I use mine almost every day and ive had it for a few months now.. It starts out in a mouse like form and when you put it on your face it drys like a powder and ive never had a problem with it getting all cakey of globby. I also add a little powder foundation on top just so it holds longer through out the day, especially if its hot outside. I will probably never use a different foundation because i love this one so much!

Your skin gets oily without makeup on...you just don't notice it as much. Powder foundations such as MAC's Studio Fix is best for oily skin types. You may want to invest in some mattifying gel to apply under your foundation.

Don't wear it! I don't wear foundation at all, ever. It's much healthier for your skin and it looks a lot better. Honestly, what's the point of foundation? I can understand wearing eye makeup because it can really bring your eyes out and make a difference. But foundation? It's just like your regular skin! Don't wear any.. It's healthier, less stressful, and cheaper. :)

Maybelline liquid foundation is really good, just put a little on and buff with a kabuki brush, then set it with loose powder.
