liquid cooling for hd 6870?

ive got the corsair h100 liquid cooling system for my amd fx-6100 @ 4.5ghz cpu atm and its doing fine :) but now my hd 6870 gpu has a major heat problem it gets up to 60-70c while playing games and i do not like that wether its inside the safety margin or not! I want my gpu to get no hotter than 50-60c under 80%+ load. Ive searched a bit and cant find any gpu liquid cooling solutions... would a corsair h60 or h80 fit onto the gpu?

it is possible, i seen ppl on sweclockers forums doing the same, this is ofc with the antec khuler 620 but it should work with things like h60 or similar too, exactly how easy it is to use it or how good they will actelly work depends on how good you can fit it.

    but yes it is possible.

however when you speak about your "inside the safety margin or not" yeah modding a processor cooler on your 6870 sound much safer then letting the stock cooler do what it was built to do....

much higher chance of problems during when you mod it on and similar + you will lose your cooling for the chips on the card which may need some cooling to you know, which it does have with the stock cooler

so you might end up with a nice and cool GPU, but overheating vram chips instead if your unlucky.

hopefully that will not be a problem thu.

Don't worry, 60-70C is normal range. I have a 460M and it gets up to the 60s during gameplay and has never given me any lag or problems. Although, I you really want to liquid cool it, you would a special bracket so the cooing block could fit on the card. However, that would require a custom cooling job instead a pre-built one like the H100. In short, your card should be fine it it stays in the 60-70 range, unless you see lag when it gets substantially hot, there shouldn't be any issues.

thats pretty good load tempuratures for the graphics card. it's not something you need to worry about

if you want watercooling for the card, you will need to get a pump, reservoir, ATI 6870 water block, Radiator, fans and tubing.

the corsair H80 would not fit on the card, it would not be able to cool the required parts like the GPU and the memory on the card. there are no sealed watercooling kits for graphics cards.

70 is fine. The max temp for your are is 103 and the most I'd let it go up to is 90.

If you're going to watercool, donor properly or not at all. The self enclosed coolers are no better than an arctic cooling accelero extreme, which is what I'd recommend.
