Do I have to put up with stupid Christians if I were to join the American Army?

I'm seriously considering joining the Army next year. I want to see the world, and I only had enough money to go to the UK for the past Summer. Standards are low (the American army allows people without high school diplomas and people who are severely overweight), so I guess that it is probably in my best interests to take advantage of all the money the government spends each year. One of the major problems IS....

I do NOT want to put up with Christians (particularly evangelicals). I do NOT want to be around Bible pushers, praying all the time, or going to "spiritual fitness programs". I'm tolerant of other religions (Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, etc...), but Christians in particular piss me off (their belief system included). Here is a link where I saw this in motion; it's disgusting: http://www.talk2action.org/story/2010/8/19/113223/...

So; those with personal experiences, can you tell me if you witnessed this kind of oppression? Thanks!

BQ: Does the military pay for DECENT colleges? Not Community Colleges?

Update:

The military HAS lowered its standards. Also, I am considering joining the Navy, to see the world through its ports (Korea, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, etc...)

Update 2:

Some of you sound like the very people I dislike. There's no way I could possibly be rejected by the military. Also, $4500 is basically nothing. University of Washington, UC Berkeley, Wharton, etc... are much more expensive. Another question; does the military pay for an AMERICAN car? Can I sell it or keep the money? Thanks!

Update 3:

Andrew- Thank you for the respectful response. I was thinking about some non-combat jobs (there are many), or, even a combat job, if that is what is available. This isn't WW1, Korea, Vietnam, etc... It's much safer.

You'll be fine. Also if you want to see the world, i suggest you look into the Navy more so than the Army. The Army will most likely end you up in a place that's not great for sight seeing. Navy travels all around the world.

It's horrifying how the general public schooling process and mothers and fathers are failing by using letting children squeak through with minimal effort. After I was in public school, the very least amount of homework I had each night was once 30 minutes. If I rather did not have any homework to do then my mom would give me an assignment that will take at the least 30 minutes. Now, my cousin received four grades that had been between the percentages of 54-59. They got to her as D's. It appears the colleges are afraid to fail kids, even when they earned a failing grade.

I 100% agree with you on the Christan part just read that article, but the army doesnt sound like a job for you man, the military will not reject you but i'm just saying from the way the spelling and how you will "take advantage" of it , depending on what occupation you do , i'm just saying you do not sound a guy I would want to have next to me in combat

Sttupid Troll. Mommy let you stay up late tonight?

You have no idea what you are talking about.

"the American army allows people without high school diplomas and people who are severely overweight" WRONG. Enlistees must have a HS diploma or a GED with at least 15 college credits. All enlistees must be within rigid weight standards before enlistment.

No one pushes religion on anyone. There are many people of many religions in the military. No one cares about your religious beliefs.

The military pays up to $4500 per year in tuition assitance whle on Active duty and after service provides the GI Bill for educational purposes.

    You are not military material.

You aren't smart. Really. You know absolutely nothing about the Army and yet you come on to a military site and insult people. Fortunately for you, you will not have to put up with anyone "stupid". Chances are we won't accept you.

people serving dont push religion on anyone, after your service, the military pays up to a set limit for all colleges. I's enough so that you can get a bachelors degree at a public college on just money from the military.

This is awful. You join the American Army in order to defend freedom of ALL religions AND freedom of speech - which, incidentally enough, applies to those same Christians you hate. Don't join the American Army - it doesn't need people like you.

Like Christians are the only group you will have to put up with, also Freemasons, Wiccans, the Gay agenda, and even military soldiers in radical groups like the KKK.

Your idea of what the US Army will accept is sadly mistaken. Hopefully, someone such as you seem to be, will be unable to pass either the ASVAB, or the MEPS physical, let alone the background check.

You will have to deal with me as I am a christian (not evangelical) and you will probably not know, because I don't push it down people's throats and constantly pray.
