I got a new Toshiba flat screen tv and the remote won't turn the TV off. What could be the problem.?

It does turn it off. The other buttons all function properly.

    It's new I'd get another

    1.remote

    2. replace tv

    3 both

Take it back right away and request a new one

If I buy something and any part of it doesn't function according to specs. The entire item will be replaced. There shouldn't be any problems wiith a new Item.

When I got my wall flat screen a few years ago there was a miniscule problem with it. I contacted the company and requested they not only replace it but also pay for all shipping and send me a new tV. (it's the law. They have to cover their defects.) I had purchased the extended warranty on it. You do not have to use your gas or pay any shipping for a defective item. All you have to do is let the company you got it from know about the problem. also if you do have to send it back to them, mark it in some manner, something only your can notice and look for that mark when you get it back. If it's there the they didn't replace the tV.
