If Republicans want small government why do they feel it should be helping create jobs?

The only alternative is the private sector and big business to start producing jobs. Will they only do this for tax cut rewards? Or maybe just continue to show they take what they can and not hire anyway since they have grown accustomed to running with a smaller workforce and higher returns.

Update:

I guess I meant helping in the way of allowing tax cuts.

A lot of very good answers here finally.

Update 2:

@Justin Thyme... I have been self employed for 21 years. How did 5th grade treat you?

The government shouldn't be creating jobs, it should be getting out of the way.

Like Obama or not, I think US industry is holding off on hiring and progressing because of the President and his business policy (higher taxes for corporations, wall street regulation and on). I believe he has caused a knee jerk reaction from the business community that will not end if he is reelected. Sad to say but this President probably needs to be fired in order for business confidence (the private sector) to grow. Whether or not Romney will be the President we need it's a good bet that our economy will uptick once he occupies the oval office, simply due to President Obama being gone.

If you or anyone believes the line by Republicans claiming smaller government, they should have their heads examined. Government has never gotten smaller, but maybe a balanced budget and a handle on the deficit and debt would be a nice shot in the arm for our economy to start producing jobs. Just maybe...

Let's forget for a second that the United States has the highest corporate tax rate in the world now. Instead let's talk about over-regulation. Some level of regulation is required, but the Obama administration has instituted literally thousands of new regulations and this does not even include the pending health care law if it stands. I mean they put over a thousand into place in a single month. What these regulations do is increase the cost of doing business, which in turn effects the capital available for employment costs. It also has the effect of creating uncertainty in the market place about what the actual cost of doing business will be in the future. No the government does not in effect create jobs, except in the case of government positions, but they can negatively or positively effect job creation with taxation and regulation policies. Obama's policies have created a definite negative in this area.

anybody is familiar with that tax cuts for the wealthy creates various jobs?! you need to envision historic previous. the wealthy are not springing up jobs with the added money. they're hoarding it. provide the money to the decrease instructions. which will stimulate the economic equipment because of the fact they'll bypass out and spend it and it will artwork this is way as much as the wealthy anyhow. (Trickle-UP economics) have not you considered the how the adaptation between the quantity of money the better classification makes from the quantity the decrease instructions make has greater beneficial? what's the point of a enterprise? To make money. what's the point of a central authority? To serve the individuals. If a enterprise ought to locate the thank you to make money devoid of hiring any workers, that's what a enterprise might do. placed the flexibility the place it belongs. -------------------------------------- might you help a conflict against Syria? they have weapons of mass destruction. If mere suspicion become adequate to warrant springing up a large number in Iraq (remember: we did no longer bypass into Iraq to locate bin encumbered; we went there because of the fact Bush mentioned that they had WMDs), why are not we bombing the heck out of Syria. Oh. i assume there's no longer adequate oil there. not one of the politicians marketing campaign funders might take great ingredient approximately a conflict there.

conservatives, republicans, do not believe in government 'creating jobs'...such employment is simply not real as it means that those who actually produce goods and services are then taxed to pay the government workforce...as for business being able to reduce their taxable income by deducting all costs, including labor, that only makes sense...what they pay their employees is certainly not profit to them, does not go into their account...and yes, many states and communities offer some sort of tax 'rewards' to businesses that locate in those places, or expand there instead of building someplace else...any community benefits by having business there, or who do you think would employ those people? and those paychecks are mostly spent in those communities, along with paying sales taxes and property taxes, and all sorts of such taxes...and none of this requires more than minimum government...

Government interference [other than health and illegal activities] stunt job growth.

That is not what Republicans believe. Conservatives believe that too much government interference is what hinders the private sector and job creation.

They believe that they can convince poor and middle classr repubicans that tax cuts for the rich will help them more than obama's policies. Suckers....
