How do you fire the flash manually on a Canon Powershot S100?

I just got this camera, the Canon Powershot S100. If there is anyone who knows about this camera, is there anyway to fire the flash manually? The flash is placed in the top right corner of the camera and whenever it is dark, the camera automatically raises the flash itself. Is there a way to manually raise the flash even when it is not dark? I don't think that anyone would design a camera where you couldn't control the flash how you want. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a flash control setting that lets you choose among flash always on, flash, always off, or flash auto. Those may not work with the camera set to full auto. Set to P, A, Tv, or M you get more controls available.
