    My Experiences---I manage Buildings

    1) Near by trees---roots grow into the pipe at couplings

    2) Tree roots can crush pipes

    3) Ground shifts can cause waste pipe to belly---Has a large truck driven over the property

    4) Flushing of Paper towels or sanitary napkins

If you pulled the toilet up and the water is not going down the pipe, the toilet is not the problem.

The best success I have had is to seal the vent, or vents if there are multiple toilets, take a few old towels or rags, put them into a plastic bag and put in each toilet on system, then the toilet or pipe that is clogged, use a wet vac that has a 2" vac hose---wrap vac hose with towel and then plastic bag to create seal---turn on vac---you may have to empty vac several times as there may be a lot of water in the pipe before the clog, but this method has never failed me and I have never had to call a plumber. Smelly process, but works very well.

A real snake isn't low cost they are simply about $200. Should you get a cheap one you might be just waisting your cash. Draino just isn't going to work. First, are you aware if in case you have a septic tank or a sewer process. A snake could support if it's clogged. Child wipes more often than not intent it to get backed up. So if there were children within the condo before you that can have brought on it. The septic tank is quicker to get clogged. If you want to get a excellent snake go rent one from home Depot it is cheaper. What i would do is spend about $ninety nine-$a hundred thirty five on a new toilet and have your landlord install it. It is going to be your cheapest manner eventually. American regular makes the Renaissance bathroom in a entire bathroom bundle for $ninety nine or the Cadet three for roughly $one hundred thirty five that has a larger trap method and flapper and a more powerful flushing system. Good good fortune!

Buy a gallon of swimming pool acid at Home Depot, aka muriatic acid. First, turn on the bathroom vent fan. Empty the entire gallon into the toilet and let it work. Don't flush the toilet, as the acid will work itself down the drain without flushing. Close the bathroom door and let it work for about an hour. After it has set for at least an hour, return to the bathroom and flush the toilet. Your drain should be clean and open.

Source(s): Personally use this method to clear slow drains at home.

Get up on the roof and check/snake the vent stack and take sure it’s not clogged. If it’s free, then you will have to snake all the way to the street, you may have a crack or tree root encroachment somewhere.
