How to hit the ball harder and jump higher?
i want to be able to hit the volleyball harder so it wont be easy to return and so in tryouts for club i get noticed but sometimes when i try to hit it hard it goes into the net because i didnt jump high enough so how can i hit the vball harder and jump higher like tell me some work outs that i can do over the summer thanks:)

Have you ever tried jumping exercises with leg weights? Also I'd recommend lifting weights regularly at the local gym that way you build up some muscle.. Don't forget about your back muscles too! Those play a big ol part in hitting.

Hi! I discovered the answers to your exact question about a year ago, when I was asking the same thing!
Hitting harder = fast arm speed.
When you go up to hit the ball its all about your hip rotation. naturally,(right handed) if you were to stand about a foot away from the wall and try to rotate and swing like you were hitting a ball parallel to the wall,your elbow wont hit it. you can practise this by stand facing the wall, and your arms up like you are going to hit. make sure your right elbow is at eye level, with your hand at your forehead. then, lead with your right hip and turn towards your left, swing. so basically your hips lead and the momentum makes you snap faster.
BUT then the arm speed is also important. when I said your elbow shouldnt hit the wall, that makes sure you hit the ball directly under your right shoulder, with your arm extended at max reach. to build up arm speed, hit the ball against the floor and a wall, just keep the reps going til you get a patttern going . you gotta keep the correct posture to avoid injury. its basically self-explanitory you need faster arm speed haha. and SNAP THE WRIST! most important finish.
jumping higher. arms are important as well. before you listen to anyone's advice, youtube an olympic volleyball player hitting. watch carefully every move they do before they swing.
for building muscle you need to do a lot of squats with weights and lunges, rockstars..etc.

To jump higher, you should work on your vertical. Try squatting down and jumping straight up. Do it over and over and it should help improve your vertical, which is how high you can jump. :) For hitting, just find a wall and hit the ball over and over with one hand, non stop, eventually going harder and faster. to get higher work on your steps in hitting. make sure you bend then jump and bring your hand up while hitting so you can aim. if you want to hit it harder work on hitting it against the wall or lift weights or something so you can get stronger. if you aren't getting it over or aren't hard enough or whatever maybe your a setter. hope this helps and makes you better

to jump higher, work on ur vertical.
To hit harder, try to push throw with ur shoulder instead of just swinging. also, hit the top of the ball and snap ur wrist and follow throw with ur arm. with ur left arm (if ur right handed) make sure to punch the elbow back as u hit with ur right hand. i call it punching the midget.
