You don't need a DVD. You need an education. JM's junk DVDs will only leave you wondering how to spend your money next when any idiot can go to YouTube and find 50 good ab workouts. Of course, they aren't going to help you lose fat.

Any exercise will burn calories but no exercise will burn fat unless your diet allows it. You can burn fat in your sleep or you can run all day and never burn any fat. It all depends on your diet.

Fat loss is determined by calorie control, not by exercise. Good exercises for burning calories are speed walking, biking, swimming, and ANY other physical activity which makes you move a lot of weight for a long time. But NO exercise is good for burning fat if you eat too many calories because you can always eat more calories than you can burn.

Too many people waste energy and time because they do not understand this one simple point. The result is too often giving up in frustration, abandoning gym memberships they continue to pay for, and many other unnecessary problems not the least of which is a lack of success.

An average person must walk about five miles every day of the week to burn the calories equivalent to a pound of body fat. So, unless you think walking five miles a day or doing that amount of exercise is for you, focus your fat loss program on diet.

Diet for fat loss. Exercise for fitness.

If you need to know how to lose fat, read my answer about how to lose fat --> http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As615... adn don't think you're going to burn it off your abs with a workout. Spot fat reduction is only possible with lipo.

Jillian Michaels is a popular celebrity fitness trainer with meager qualifications considering the amount of hype she manages to generate. She's holds only two personal trainer certifications which are of very low level academic value and not even the equivalent of an AA degree. To my knowledge she has no bachelors degree in anything and has acquired her celebrity only through self promotion and the hype from the two reality TV shows on which she's appeared.

Michaels has been sued several times for promoting or selling dangerous or unhealthy supplement products. She has had several cosmetic surgical procedures to improve her appearance. She has be known to exaggerate, misrepresent, or lie for the sake of promoting herself for no better purpose than self glorification and material profit. She has been repudiated by a old one-time friend and martial arts trainer and an article in the Los Angeles Times revealed her to be little more than a fraud. She is also believed to have used steroids to improve her physical appearance which accounts for her somewhat masculine look in many old photos. Almost all recent photos promoting here have been retouched (Photoshopped).

There is nothing of value on Michaels website (here --> http://www.jillianmichaels.com/ ), which costs $3 per week ($156) annually that cannot be found elsewhere on the Internet for free. She promotes myth and is a purveyor of bad information as is evidenced by her book "Master Your Metabolism" for which she has been criticized by several experts here ---> http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/master-your-met... (see pages 2-3). The title of her book attempts to capitalize on a common myth which suggests that we can do things to make permanent or long term changes to our metabolism which, of course, is not true or medically correct.

In general, Michaels has nothing new to offer. The best health and fitness experts in the world have provided a wealth of information for fat loss, fitness, and health maintenance and all for free and on the Internet. All we have to do is find it, study it, and muster the self discipline to use it. It's available from the US government agencies NIH, USDA, CDC, and FDA. Pop icons like Michaels run on hype and cool sounding and catchy phrases such as "30 day Shred" to exploit the false hopes, ignorance, and naivete of the public for the sole purpose of their own personal financial gain.

    More on Michaels:

    • Here's an interesting video which is worth watching from Michael's one time martial arts instructor ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbsYbE0xAs4

Don't get scammed by JM. If you two have ab fat, you're not going to lose it in six weeks if ever. Ab fat is impossible for many people to get rid of and still maintain a healthy percent body fat.

    Good luck and good health!!

I've only done the 30 day shred and it was alright, but I am VERY picky about workout vids. It will tone you up, but I couldn't stick with it. It wasn't anything wrong with the workout, just personal preferences.

There's only EVER been one workout video I've stuck with and not gotten bored/annoyed. I stream it on netflix and it will def. work your thighs, butt, etc. It's called "Crunch:Cardio Sculpt" There's isn't a whole lot of cardio, but it helped me with my thighs, butt, tummy, balance, and endurance.
