Agama Sashtras talk about the method and means of temple construction and the details of Murthi pooja. It is better to search for them and know more about it. For general read, I suggest you read the following.

This tells us why we do image worship(Murthi Pooja).

    http://www.greenmesg.org/swami_vivekananda_sayings...

Some good amount of details are present here below.

@Rahman and others who don't want to hear anything beyond their stupidity but cut paste a few websites - If I say that kaaba is your idol. Will you agree? But I clearly see that you have respectful behaviour when it comes to the photo of kaab or when you go to kaaba? How about that. Still I am ok to accept your final take on it, as ultimately it is your place of worsip. Similarly, you don't try to interpret with your petty mind set on what you think or what your book says on 'idol'. May be some pre-islamic people were doing some stone worship, which your prophet might have condemned at that point in time. But even you couldn't do away with symbols. Could you allow anyone to disrespect the crescent moon and star combined figure? Human nature is so, you can't help it.

Anyways, we don't see the idol as stone but it reminds us of God with qualities and attributes. We call it Saguna Brahman. We also have Nirguna Brahman worship for which the aspirant will be qualified gradually after doing Saguna Brahman worship. Also when Murthi is to be worshipped, we first do Prana Prathista which is normally done by great acharyas like Adi Shankara etc after temple is constructed. This is to invite God in this Saguna aspect and to accept and pray for our inability to comprehend the Nirguna Brahman in the beginning itself in the life of the devotee. It is mind's inability. Till we get the total control to transcend the mind, we have to go with Saguna Brahman worship. Ppl don't know about all these things so they say that people of their religion are directly qualified for Formless God worship which is laughable. Only a few great souls in the history of mankind were able to grasp the Nirguna Brahman aspect. Rest all of us, in one way or the other have to show our devotion by means of respecting our symbols, books, places of worship, or a believed word of god, repeating name of God, holding a verse for contemplation in our minds(even mental image comes under image worship) etc. Humans can't do without it. Just read the article of Swami Vivekananda that I pasted above. It clears all the doubts.

    Regards.

Ok then tell me Why to worship IDOL ?

What is the difference between IDOL worship & God worship ?

As you clearly said, IDOL worship is not a God worship by differentiating them... So, you are accepting that IDOL worship is unnecessary....

I Worship God by calling "Oh my god, give me a peace of mind and help me to manage the problems" without mentioning any God name... I never join my hands to worship God, I never follow any religion's procedures.. But still I do worship in my heart which itself is enough I think...

Because God is not somewhere outside to find or discover...

Idol worship involves giving a human form to the God you believe. there isnt much of a difference

God worship is about spirituality while idol worship is religious ritual. Both are important for a devotee.

God worship is the worship of a being whom you cannot see, i.e. God. Examples of these are Islam, Jewish religion, etc. Idol worship is when an individual worships a statue or "Murti" whom they believe to be a representative of their gods, example, Hinduism, Bhuddism, etc.

    God worship is worshiping God.

Idol worship is worshiping the things of the world that God created.

Example: The greedy rich people worship their money, therefore their money is their idol.

  • 'Ignorance'

    is the answer

to ur question : Why ?

    It is high time

    Hindus gave up Idol Worship

as recommended by great seers -

"u:n udampu a:layam." Our body is God's temple. (Hindu Concept)

"Ye are the living temples of God !" - Jesus

Meaning : The omnipresent God is inside us, and inside others too !

    It is high time

    Christians realize

    Jesus says

that all of us have GOD inside us,

    and that

Jesus would feel sad if we call ourselves "sinners".

Never relate god with idol ., if one do then they are not a wise , actually god is beyond idol , don't restrict his opulence only with idol . idol worship is only for our connivance ,. this very nature of Prakrit is perishable , so in that idol is also perishable , it also has expiry date . so one if one thinks god is residing only in idol , then certainly he is deluded person .

Almighty God is only available in four Vedas wherein it is stated in Yajurveda mantra 32/3 that "na tasya pratima asti" means there is no shape or statue of Almighty God He being omnipresent

Upnishads says 'tad srishta tadnu pravisht' means God created universe and entered therein. So he is everywhere and omnipresent. To realize God, chapter 7 of Yajurveda and other three Vedas clearly says that yajna, study of Vedas & holy books and especially ashtang yoga practice is required

True worship of god is nothing but knowing the SELF . for that guru is needed . lord krishna says ..

    "tad viddhi praṇipātena

    paripraśnena sevayā

    upadekṣyanti te jñānaḿ

    jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ

Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.

    also ch.7 krishna says ..

    mattaḥ parataraḿ nānyat

    kiñcid asti dhanañjaya

    mayi sarvam idaḿ protaḿ

    sūtre maṇi-gaṇā iva

Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread.
