Spanish Ford Escape commercial?

I was just watching the NBA finals and a commercial for the Ford Escape came on - but it was all in Spanish (with English subtitles, though). Even the announcer spoke spanish and the slogan was written in Spanish under the Ford sign at the end.

Was this a mistake, or was it intentional? Did anybody else see it?

Update:

@TexHabs this wasn't supposed to be an offensive post. It just surprised me.

I saw the commercial. I do not know if it was a mistake or not. I will say this. I am glad it aired and hope there are more of these multilingual commercials to come. I for one embrace or brothers and sisters of different back rounds and want them to feel welcomed in this country. I like how one commercial can make some people so uptight. It is in a language you can not speak, deal with it. What do you call a person who can speak 3 languages? Trilingual. What do you call someone who can speak 2 languages? Bilingual. What do you call someone who can speak one language? American. The thing is, I don't even like Ford, but kudos to them for showing the public that not all fords are made in America. Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. Check it out. Peace and Love.

I was shocked! I speak Spanish and French as well. I travel to Europe and would never expect English commercials with their national language as sub titles. What was Ford thinking? They are a business, right? They will not get my business. I have been in Miami several times and many of the residents speak Spanish. I get their target market. However, most speak English. This was a national commercial, not regional. Did Florida have an annexation from the U.S. that I was not aware of?

Bad move on Fords part. One of the oldest most American Companies advertising in Spanish during the NBA finals?

I thought my son had changed the channel while I briefly stepped away. Will think twice about buying a Ford product.

Funny how when "English" speakers visit other countries they are treated with so much hospitality and courtesy and they can't respect diversity. Get over it English is not the only language spoken in the US. How about VW and their "Das Auto" slogan I don't hear anyone complaint about it. Small minds. Respect one another, embrace changes and you won't be so bitter. Green this is not directed to you. Answering your question: the commercial was intentional, it was intended to reach the hispanic market also.

It was intentional to appeal to a larger audience since most Spanish speaking people are illiterate and can't read subtitles. Smart move by Ford...

I saw that too... Not necessarily offended at the commercial itself, but the pandering that Ford appears to be doing -- and participating in the incremental eroding of English as the primary language in America. I've reported to Ford and they suggest making comments for their consideration at www.social.ford.com where opinions will be received.

Saw the commercial. Sent Ford Motor Company an email stating that it was not the "illegals" that made them the major corporation they are today, it was AMERICANS.

Does anyone know what the commercial was about? Just curious to know if it might have been a mistake

Yes I saw it and I wasn't really pleased. I wouldn't have a problem with it if I was watching an International soccer game or Telemundo , but I wasn't, and fine if it didn't bother anybody, but it did bother me.

It's one thing to be tolerant of those who don't respect English as our national language (In practice, people!), it's something altogether different to cater to them. No Fords for me, gracias.
