What kind of tree has 1 foot wide heart shaped leaves that are not shiny. It does NOT have serrated edges. The stems are red, but the veins of the leaves are green.

    Here in Florida, we call them Mahoe trees. It's in a family of trees called Hibiscus tilaceus. One that has red stems is a variety called Hibiscus tilaceus rubra and are very common in Hawaii. I love the way the flowers change from yellow in the morning the orange by the afternoon. It's like the sun is cooking them. Here is a google image link to view them.

    Cercis, or Redbuds, is a genus of about 6-10 species contained in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae of the pea kinfolk Fabaceae, community to warmth-temperate areas. they are small deciduous trees or great shrubs, characterized via elementary, rounded to heart-shaped leaves and pinkish-pink flowers borne contained in the early spring on bare leafless shoots.
