The disk is slowly tearing itself apart. They will not offer the service you imagine, and the disk will have to be rebuilt from the ground up to provide years of service. Imagine the cost of a new disk, and multiply that by 1000, just to get them interested.
So buy a new drive, and put it into service instead.

Depends on what is wrong with it. If the computer is still recognizing that the drive is there, you may be able to salvage the drive by simply reformatting it. Use your Windows CD, and boot from it. Let the Windows set up run until just after you press F8 to agree to the license. You will then be given an option to reformat and repartition the hard drive. Delete the current partition, and create a new one. Format it. If the problem was only corrupted information on the drive, you will be back in business. However if the drive is mechanically defected, you will probably not even be able to successfully format it. Or once formatted, it will keep dropping files and messing up. The cost to repair a hard drive is usually in the $2000 to $2500 range. (Yes, I meant two thousand.) They have to open the drive in a special clean room in order to repair it. That cost big bucks. If you still have the sales slip, contact the manufacturer. Usually hard drives have a one year warranty on them.

Once a drive starts to fail it makes no sense to try to get a repair done. Simply replace it. After four years a new one will more than likely be faster and bigger.

Seagate generally gives 5 years warranty. you can visit their site and type in the serial number of your HDD to find out whether warranty is still alive. I have done this once and got a replacement for my failed HDD. http://www.seagate.com/support/warranty-and-return...

I dont think so you can expect any warranty on a 4 year old item.
