EVER RETURN GAS POWERED EQUIP. TO MENARDS?
Bought a $250 Brute lawn mower from Menard's. After working for 2 hours, it stopped and has never started. Menard's refuses to accept returns if you put oil or gas in it. They sent me to Customer Service who had me fill out a long form and sent to HQ. HQ sent it to Mfr. Been without a lawn mower for a month (still storing the non-working one for Menard's though in my garage.) I don't want the mower fixed, I want them to take it back. Have you dealt with this problem? What did you do?
d-man,
Are you suggesting there was NOT something wrong in either materials or workmanship or both for a lawn mower to work only a couple hours? Is that what you consider a normal life span for a $250 lawn mower? My definition of buyer's remorse is getting what you paid for and changing your mind about wanting it. I purchased what was described as a machine capable of cutting my lawn which appears to be false as it just sits in my garage. Somebody of greater authority than me put forth the proposition the spirit of the law was of more importance than the letter of the law. I would think this would be respected most by a company which depends on repeat business and attracting new customers. I don't see how Menard's will do either being this rigid with this policy. Maybe if they just used "Do unto others..." Would they want their grandfather to get stuck with a lawn mower he didn't even mow his lawn with twice before it quit altogether, then make him write email

Stand outside their place of business with the non working lawn mower anda sign telling the story. saturday mornings would be good. They'll be busy then.
They'll give you a new one just to get rid of you.
Don't say anything you cannot prove... don't call them crooks, don't be abusive.
The sign should say.
"I bought this lawnmower for $250. It has never functioned properly. Menards refuse to give me a refund or replacement because I put gas in it. Do you really want to buy from these people?"
lol
btw...you answered my question but it's not there any more,. I never got to see it. I am sorry if someone reported you for that.

A lawn mower is warrantied for defects in materials and workmanship, meaning they will fix the unit if it has a warranted issue. It does not cover buyers remorse, or not wanting a mower any longer. It is not uncommon for them to send you to a repair facility to get your issue fixed. Getting your money back is probably not an option to resolve a warranty repair.

No but sometimes I wish I had the power to make people just disappear! Puff and that would be it.
