Forests in the Canterbury reigon in New Zeland?

Do you know any forests, bush etc in on near the Canterbury region that are NOT only evergreen?

Any hopefully easily accessable, like places that you can go on bush walks in, Like Mount Isabell in Hamner?

I need this for photographs.

Thanks

Yeah majority are evergreen so there are trees that aren't evergreen

Most native forests in NZ are evergreen. I know that around castle hill there are a few pines up there that have been planted and are deciduous. Most forest planted for pine are also evergreen, so you would have to find small plantings of deciduous trees and this is going to be tricky. There would not be many as people want to see native forests not forests that you can see in other places in the world.

There are heaps of places in Canterburyy to go hiking. I would try Mt Peel, for a start. and then look at theRikia Gorge area, As you go further up the ranges there is little forest. If you want to venture over toTaraa then the bush is great, and some really good walks.

I suggest you look at taking the Trans Alpine toArthur's Pass, and take a couple of days to chill, and walk the fantastic tracks in that area.
