Do slinkys work on escalators?
If you pushed a slinky down an *up* escalator, would the slinky reach the bottom. Y/N and why or why not?

Too many variables!
How long is the slinky?
How fast does the escalator move?
What metal is the escalator made of?
What is the slinky made of?
Although there are many variables, the answer is "no" a lot of the time(most escalators in Canada and U.S. have the same material and speed.). This is because the escalator moves way too fast for the slinky.

No, because of the speed of the escalator going up plus the Velocity and the speed of the slinky going down the speed moving up is more likely to move fast enough the slinky will reach the bottom, unless a giant slinky is involved! So it is possible it would reach the bottom but only if it was a giant slinky and a slow elevator!

No. The slinky would go up and not reach down the elevator. I tried this myself and it was surprising that the slinky was able to reach the top of the elevator when I put it at the middle portion. If you do not believe it, then try it yourself.
Have a pleasant day.

oh oh, good question. the nearest escalator is about 4 hours drive from me and now i'm really curious. sounds like a good reason for a road trip with my sons this summer.
titacabreros. thanks for the info but i still think it's going to be fun going to Calgary with my boys and annoying the people at the mall. i love fun stuff and i never plan to grow up and maybe that's why my boys still like to spend time with me.
