I accidentally pressed publish instead of abswer privately, so I changed the setting to private. Will the asker be able to see the response?

No, the asker will not be able to see it. It's basically once you publish it, its like a post, if you put it as 'Private" you'd be the only one to see it

What if the answerer typed up something that the asker only would not consider? constructive, figuring out on an insulting answer as 'worst answer' could be a passable revenge, yet whilst the asker makes use of it penalize somebody who only has a distinctive opinion, it truly would not be straightforward...
