Oh my god! Never hit your puppy! That's like hitting a toddler for having wet the bed. You need to be very diligent as if you are caring for a newborn baby. You need to take her out every time she changes activities. If she stops eating, take her out. If she stops playing, take her out. If she loses interest in whatever you're doing with her to sniff around, take her out side. Just taking her out every hour may work for one dogs bladder but not for all puppies bladders.
Also, Where ever she has peed needs to be cleaned with like a water, vinegar, baking soda solution to get the pee smell out. You may not smell it but she can, and because of that she thinks that is where she needs to go. You can pick up commercial cleaners at any pet store as well. Also bring her to the same spot out side to pee every time so she knows that is the pee spot.
Using a crate will help but you need to researching crate training. You can put her in the crate for short times during the day when you can't watch her. You don't want her having free range of the house to pee or poop. Crate training is not so they learn to go in their crate, but instead is using the logic, that they don't go where they sleep, to your benefit.
Tell your mom not to hit the puppy. Explain that are like babies/toddlers.

Hitting and yelling at the dog will either create a submissive peeing problem or teach the dog to hide her business in out of the way places in the house. The website below has some good info on house training a dog and working with dogs with problems.

First off, never, never grow impatient with a dog. I know it's tough, but you made a commitment once you got it. it's a lot of work! but it'll pay off.
My 4 month old German Shepherd (got him may 5th) is now fully potty trained. First off: look for signals. Sniffing around is a BIG indicator. this part of potty training consists of CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE from you, the owner. Some dogs have specific things they do.You must know what are your dog's signs.
Pooping was the first thing my dog stopped from doing outside, he would start whining or circling when he had to poo. pee was a little harder, that took time.
Also: see if she goes to a specific spot. My dog will always try to get behind the sofa when he had to go poo. Whenever you see this, IMMEDIATELY take her outside. Always take her outside. If you recently got her, take her outside a half an hour after she eats. Get her used to going outside. Accustom and designate ONE spot in the yard where she goes to eliminate. My dog always uses the corners of the yard. Lead her there. When she does her business outside, give her a treat. Or praise her and firmly say "Good."
I would also recommend the usage of a bell. Put it around the door knob. WHENEVER you take her outside, ring the bell and make sure she sees. Even make her ring the bell. Do this every time you take her out, eventually she will begin to associate the bell ringing with going outside. This is what really helped with my dog.
Thirdly: Have patience. It took about 2 months to potty train my dog fully, but i've had some friends where it took them 6 months to potty train their dog.

First never hit a dog you can tell them off and say things like no but do it in a forcefull voice dont shout just let em know thats a bad thing to do.
The way we traind my little Jack Russell was that after she ate see seemed to go to the loo so we watched her and when she finished we put her in the back garden and said 'go do a wee/poo' etc and kept saying it every so often, when they do eventually go you MUST make a big fuss of them and tell them how good they've been lots of love etc. Also before the last person goes to bed let them out again and do the same thing, persistance will get you through.

Step one - toss all pee pads, newspapers or anything else you want the dog to pee on in the house - dogs pee/poop outside - no excuses.
Step two - take the puppy outside every 2-3 hours for a few weeks/months till its trained.
Step three - crate the pup when you cannot supervise it.

Crate him anytime he is unsupervised and always take him outside when you remove him from the crate. It sounds cruel, but dogs love their crates, will go to them when they are sleepy or to hide a toy that they like because it's a place where they feel safe. Make sure the crate is large enough for the breed of your dog, but not so large that your dog would feel comfortable using it as a bathroom. The idea is for your dog to learn to control its urges to wee and poo.
