Disconnecting EGR on 2012 Dodge Cummins?

I have a new 2012 Dodge Ram with the Cummins diesel engine and 6 speed manual. I have been told that I will get better fuel economy and lower EGT if I unplug the wire to the EGR. Does anybody have any experience with this? How do I do it? Are there any risks?

The EGR components have absolutely nothing to do with how your engine runs. EGRs recirculate exhaust fumes. You might save 1 quart a year. Not worth messing with.

Also if the EGR system ever goes out after you're off warranty, you don't have to bother fixing it (unless you live in an area that requires smog tests) because your truck will run the same whether is working properly or not.
