Your thoughts on non prescription glasses?

I agree that it's pretty dumb. I wear actual prescription glasses and I'm in high school.

People in high school wear fake glasses for attention and so they can look smart (And they comment on it all day; "OMG I look so smart in these glasses, right?!"), not because they want to look fashionable. They're usually the same people that grab your glasses off your face and put them on, then say, "Wow! You're totally blind!" or "Wow! I can see so well in these! I actually need glasses, but I don't wear them 'cause they're ugly!" and my personal favorite, "How many fingers am I holding up?!"

It's annoying because a) I'm not "blind," I just have poor eyesight, b) If we had the same prescription, you would not be able to read the textbook or copy the notes on the board like you just were, and c) I can see your fingers; they're 2 inches in front of my face.

I wish people would just stick to wearing sunglasses. They're fashionable, and they don't insult those of us who actually wear glasses.

Well, glasses are sort of at the interface between a medical device and a fashion accessory. I can assure you that if some of the rock starts and other teen idols started using canes, a lot of kids would copy them thinking it was cool. As for what I think of fake glasses, it isn't even something I even think about. However, if you think the fashion trends now are stupid, the next time you are in a library, look up a book called "a pictorial history of fashion" (or something like that). Some of the outfits shown in that book are a riot!

I think it's simply a style thing. You would wear them as you would a headband or a bracelet. For me though, my eyesight is fine but I am rather unconfident. I wear fake glasses sometimes because it makes me feel safer and more able to face people. That may sound strange.. As for the wearing expensive ones that aren't needed, that does not make sense to me. Also I personally do not like huge fake glasses.

contacts have to fitted by an optician whether they are perscription or not and in the UK and US it is illegal to sell someone lenses without a perscription ( which is the same even if you have normal eyes). This is because it is unsafe to wear glasses without having your eyes checked by an optician adn the fit adjusted. Therefore do NOT wear these lenses. This girls actions are illegal - please report her to an adult as what she is doing is dangerous. I don't know what can be done about teh money you have lost but its more important not to risk your eyesight than to worry about teh money. Contacts are NOT a cosmetic item like makeup .

Some people just have a "glasses face." I don't mind it when people wear fake glasses as long as they have lenses and don't look bad on them.
