Bra size question--I'm confused?

I'm a fifteen year old girl and I'm sort of new to the bra thing. I've been wearing bras since I was twelve but recently my boobs have gotten a lot bigger. I always had to wear cheap bras (from like walmart) but i just got my first job and I have a bit of money and I went to Victoria's Secret to buy bras. I had been wearing a 36-38Cish and I knew the 36 was a little bit small so I got measured. It turns out that I'm a 36D. How in the world is that possible? The 38C i was wearing was a bit small but is a 38C to 36D a big jump? and the 36D fits and feels great but isn't that like freakishly big? none of my family members are that big...

Most women are wearing the wrong size bra.  Did the salesperson at VS explain that the actual cup size of a 38C is the exact same as the cup size of a 36D.  As a band gets larger the cup size grows in relation.  

It's not freakishly big.  I always wore 36 C and when I got checked I am a 32DD.  32DD=34D=36C =38B.  The only difference is the band size.  My mom is a 38B.

Yea Victoria's secrets bras run small. I actually got measured there yesterday and was shocked when they told me I was a 36DD, lol. But your bra size varies on where you buy them.  A 36D is not freakishly big its a good size

It all depends on stores 
It's the same in any clothing situation 
You may be a size 0 in one store and a 5 in the next it happens especially when you go from Walmart to a mall store
