OK, can someone help me here?

I'm Scottish and I've always wanted to go to university in America.

What I want to know is:

Will they understand my accent?

How hard is it to be accepted in America to a university, not being a citizen and all?

There are factors that contribute to the possibility of being accepted in a college in the U.S

    - For example, what is your GPA, Grade Point Average? The higher your GPA the better chance you have to get accepted :)

    - Are you aiming for a scholarship? If you are, then you probably need higher qualifications than a regular student.

Your accent probably won't be a problem. International accents are common in the U.S and they are understood. However, if you have time before you go the U.S, try to listen to a lot of American accent: watch movies and listen to music. It helps :) The American accent is not that hard to learn, believe me.

    Suggestions:

    - Visit websites for schools in the U.S. See what they require for admission.

    - Try schools that look for international students and cultural diversity, there are many out there.

    Hope this helps :)

Yes, they will understand you're accent. It's okay if you are not an American citizen. People come from all around the world to study in America. Don't worry, you won't be judged.
