can hydrogen peroxide be used to dechlorinate fish tank water?

Can it be used and how quickly does it work? I've heard that it can but im checking to be sure. I have 50 gallons that need treatment. And of course the fish wont be put in until its been dechlorinated.

i would not use HP to dechlorinate water, ive heard of it oxidizing chlorine into less harmful substances but you're removing one poison by adding another. HP can harm fish if you overdose and it is hard to know how much to dose in order to neutralize chlorine.

HP also has negative effects on plants and other microscopic organisms in the tank that are sensitive to HP.

i use seachem prime...cant overdose on it and much safer if the bottle falls into the tank then a bottle of HP.

Hydrogen peroxide doesn't remove chlorine. It can be used as an oxygen aid, algae killer, antibacterial agent, oxidizing agent on organic mulm, and as a cleaner. I use Dr's. Foster & Smith Water Repair® Series: Stabilize.
