What movies have personally affected you?

There are certain movies I watch that, whether they're considered to be good movies or not, have really severe, personal...effects on me, you could call it--emotionally, for the most part. And this might seem obvious, but...well it's hard to explain, so here are some of the movies that have affected me:

-Bridge to Terabithia (I'm EXTREMELY nostalgic, and at some point in first grade, had a friend who was very similar to Leslie in this movie, in looks and somewhat in attitude. The idea of an imaginative childhood friend, and playing games of pure imagination and fantasy, really brought me back to those days, and to those who have seen the movie, it's hard NOT to be affected by this movie, from beginning to end, especially the end)

-Let Me In (this was similar for me to how "Bridge to Terabithia" affected me, for some reason, even though they're such different movies. But the story of the two characters, how dark and tragic their lives are, and in contrast how happy they were together just...I don't know. It pulled my heartstrings, as they say, and I love horror, so this movie was an amazing mixture of horror and an amazing but dark love story)

-Sucker Punch (i know, an odd choice, but I was shocked by how deep of a story this one had, especially since I was expecting something way more out there after watching the trailers. But the whole sacrifice aspect, not to mention how you grow to love the characters, and sympathize, and get pissed off or disgusted or anything...plus it's an awesome, badass movie. This one stayed with me for awhile. Not as long as the two above, but it certainly did for a long time)

-The Butterfly Effect (ignoring the sequels, this movie should have stood alone. It was such a twisted, dark tale, but deep and meaningful at the heart, and the end--the director's cut end, not the prettied up theatrical end--was so...gah, so inconceivable but so true and tragic and just amazing)

-Hearts in Atlantis (very similar to Bridge to Terabithia in the nostalgic sense, but this one was EXTREME on those levels)

So what I'm asking is: What movies have affected any of you in any personal, emotional ways, the way these movies have affected me? It could be falling in love with a character from a movie, or just really feeling SOMETHING, maybe indescribable, about a movie. Hopefully I'm not the only one, and hopefully this actually makes sense, haha!

Thanks in advance! I'll do my best to pick a best answer!

Cheers!

The film Crash was such a strong movie. I saw it once in the theater and have yet to see it again, I felt a little dirty, disappointed and overall sad to see the society we still live in. I'm sure I will see it again one day but I just didn't like the way it made me feel about myself and culture that still persist in this day.

For me it was...I can't even think of it...AH there it is, The Hunger Games. It's nothing to do with the fandom, characters, or anything like that, but it just set off something inside me that made me long to be an actor and I've never had that feeling, it made me completely second guess my university science education and in a very strange sense kind of tipped my head upside down. No idea why it set this off in me, but it also made me really want to be famous. It sounds a bit shallow but I got really scared of never being known like actors. Even thinking about it now my stomach feels funny, as if I don't know what I'm doing in life and if I'm chasing what I want.

Children of Men - So through provoking. Changed my view on film for a bit.

Martyrs - Never thought in my life a horror film would stick in my head like that has. It's been over a year since I've seen it and the last twenty minutes is still in-bedded in my brain.

Drive - Seeing violence so brutal, but keeping it so true to the story is unheard of these days.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World... just saw it today and i already want to see it again because somehow it made me laugh while the end of the world is in a few weeks. The end really hit me hard because it shows that age doesnt matter for love and a 50 year old man can genuinelly love a 28 year old girl... plus.. steve carell is quite sexy :)

Blade Runner, because I saw it when I was young and it left a subconscious impression on my outlook on life and my personal philosophy. It also happens to be my favorite movie of all time.

Lost in Translation was perhaps the most emotional, gut-wrenching movie I've ever seen.
