Can I still claim my 17 yr old daughter as a dependent if she makes a little over $10, 500 this yr?

My tax man said, any more than that I really can't claim her. But isn't there a way? If she doesn't claim her self or something?

Are you in the US? Does she live with you? If the answers are yes to these questions, then yes you can claim her as a dependent as long as she does not claim herself. She will still need to file her own return, just not claim herself. Her income is not high, she will probably get back everything she paid. Sounds to me like you need a new "tax man".

Depends on the state cause where i live your child as a dependent should make last than 2000 a month I am pretty sure you can still claim her but you should check with a different tax person just to be sure cause you don't wanna deal with the IRS later.

That is quite tough, she made quite a huge sum of money and she's 17. Do not think she can avoid the tax. With the corrupted way many things are run, I am sure there is a way but not any that I know of.

You can claim her but if she claims herself as independent she will probably get more than if you claim her.
